My Top Ten Greatest Hits (Thus Far)

How meta is this?!

As some of you are aware, I like data and various statistics. Earlier this week I was doing a deep dive on various aspects of my website, and I happened upon some information I found both interesting and depressing. The interesting part? That I was able to peruse my most-viewed pieces over the years; what I found surprised even me.

So, for the first time ever, here’s my top ten “greatest hits” from rebekahlang.com.

Side note: I won’t be including the menu options of my site for the theatre, photography, art, and about sections.

From #10 to #1, here we go!

.

#10: The Path To Outbreak Prime – The Most Bonkers Quest

As much as I adore Destiny (and I really do), the quest for the Outbreak Prime seemed excessively intricate, even for myself. I go into it in the piece, but the amount of effort involved in obtaining the Prime is colossally involved.

Of course, now that I’m thinking about it, I’m wishing I’d just gotten it back when I was still playing on the regular.

The hooks of Destiny run deep for me.

.

#9: The Impetus To Discuss Style

This has the distinction of being the sole piece under the “style” section of my site. When I originally created this website, I had wanted to write about both games as well as style, but the games section has always been the priority.

This was written back in 2014 during the initial phase of my site where I wasn’t using caps (on purpose). I’ve often thought about going back over the older pieces and updating them to reflect proper caps, but I’ve left them alone to preserve the way they were originally posted.

I am taken with fashion and style, and I hope to flesh out this section in the future.

.

#8: I Got A Solid Case Of The Blues / Reality Check

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I just went back and read this piece, and it’s as though I wrote it today. I almost surprised myself for a moment that, even feeling as I did/do, I pushed on to this point over a year later.

If I could encourage you to read any of the pieces on this list, I’d have to recommend this one. It explains where I am and where I’ve been.

.

#7: My Further Glee With The PS4 Screenshot Function: Witcher 3 Edition

As many of you know, I am a huge fan of screenshots.

The Witcher 3 was one of the most beautiful games I’ve played, and I took a veritable crap ton of screenshots during that time. This piece had some of my favorites, and instantly reminded me how much I loved the experience.

.

#6: Thursday Bonus Post Of Silliness! (Mainframe!)

How this ended up being the sixth most read piece on my site, I have no idea. Color me surprised.

It is a fairly short and silly post, and the song is always amusing to me.

.

#5: The Hilariously Lackluster Trophy Screenshots On The PS4

In an offshoot of my various screenshot posts, I made this one about the disappointing trophy screenshot functionality. My descriptions are trying a bit too hard, but the screenshots are funny all the same. I’m sure Sony had grand ideas for this option, but the reality falls flat.

At least it falls amusingly flat, so, there’s that.

.

#4: New Game Smell

I’m not going to lie: I am super into smells. I particularly enjoy the smell of new games when the case is first opened.

When I wrote about this, I thought very few people would end up reading it. How it turned into my fourth most read piece, I have no idea.

.

#3: The Wondrous World Of Rapture

From the moment I played it so many years ago, BioShock became my favorite game of all time. In the years since, nothing has come close to dethroning it.

Rapture is one of the most unique and atmospheric locales in gaming, and writing about it was something I was happy to do. In this particular piece, I gush (no pun intended) about the underwater city. I also went into my history with the game.

And now I just want to play BioShock again.

.

#2: The Witcher 3: Awkward Sex Simulator

This is one of the only pieces I’ve written that I find remotely funny. It also strikes me as amusing that this, this piece, is the second most viewed on my site.

Just wait until you get to the part about the unicorn. One minor error in dialog choice and I ruined my eunuch run.

Darn, darn, double darn.

.

#1: I Found An Egg! I Found An Egg!

How this is the most viewed piece on my site (or why) is beyond me.

This was the roller coaster tale of my efforts to get the Pokemon version of a pangolin. My friend Grunts guided my efforts and helped me make the dream a reality.

I just read through this again for the first time in over a year and, I have to admit, it’s sort of adorable. Only because the Sandshrew was totally worth the time and effort.

Also, if that piece amuses you, you might enjoy the follow up of what happened to the aforementioned egg.

.

So there you have it. The top ten most-viewed pieces from my website. If you’ve gotten this far, hopefully you’ve had a chance to check out any that potentially interested you. Either way, I’m grateful you are here and grateful for your support of my words. Your time means the world to me.

With that I ask: what will you be playing this weekend? Any delicious plans?

I am, again, hoping to get to play anything at all this weekend. As always, I feel hopeful, even in the face of that which is not hopeful.

Thank you again, friends. Your support means means more than I could ever say.

  1. I’m gonna post a link to this entry everywhere, and try to get the top 10 most popular blog posts post into the list of top 10 most popular blog posts.

    SUPER METAAAAA

And I’m gonna try to play some more Horizon, if my daughter allows it.

  2. Excellent top ten. Hopefully, you now realize that “Pokemon” and “Sex” belong in the title of every piece, regardless of content.

Likely, more Night in the Woods for me.

    • Oh no no no no no. It didn’t even OCCUR to me that I had tagged both things and now I am going to seem like a bizarre pervert.

      AAAAAAAAA!!!

I hope you enjoy Night in the Woods. I will be perpetually hiding from the silliness I’ve brought down upon myself.

    • Thank you! I would never have thought most of those would end up there. But I can’t argue with numbers. I mean, I can, but it’s sort of a losing argument.

ME TOOOOOOOOO. I’m so determined to play something. I just have to. I HAVE TO.

What are you hoping to play this weekend?

  3. I forgot about that no caps thing. Why did you do that? Not that I’m complaining…it’s cute…

Also, I’m reminded of scratchy unicorn sitting. Always a valid choice.

    • I just aesthetically prefer no caps. In some of my personal correspondence, I still use no caps, but I find myself more and more often using appropriate caps like a responsible adult. I really made the change when someone let me know that it looked unprofessional so I decided to make the leap and here we are.

I completely remember your comments about that!! Seriously, it would be awful. Never mind incredibly difficult to balance unless you were a gymnast or something.
