I Have Officially Run Out Of Ideas (At Least At The Moment)

Contrary to the title of this piece, I’d known exactly what I was going to write about today for the past week…then was thwarted by something outside my control not being finished in enough time; it’s now being pushed off to Friday.

Fart noise.

The good news: it’s a neat thing. The bad news: I have nothing to show today.

I’m sorry.

After 900+ pieces, I’m not going to berate myself too badly for not having a solid idea this time.

I did just get a game that released yesterday called Truberbrook and I’m super excited to start it. To be fair, I’ve BEEN excited to start it since I read this description on Amazon a few months back:

Truberbrook is a thrilling mystery adventure game set in rural Germany in the late 1960s. The player takes the role of young American physicist Tannhauser, who happens to end up in the eponymous village of Truberbrook, an ageing but beautiful health resort somewhere in the densely forested countryside of West Germany. Tannhauser, while working on his PhD thesis, comes to Truberbrook seeking to crack a tiresome mental block. But something in this town seems strangely spaced out, as the superficial German homeland setting gradually evolves into a puzzling sci-fi mystery. One of the most distinctive features of the game is its unique visual style: The whole scenery and all backdrops will be built as real miniature scale models, captured via photogrammerty, digitally polished and then blended with animated characters, visual effects, and set extensions. Gameplay wise, Truberbrook is a somewhat classic point-and-click adventure game with a modern approach. Mood and atmosphere of the game are inspired by TV series like Twin Peaks, The X-Files, and True Detective. The game mixes German folklore with a gripping sci-fi storyline, covering universal themes like love, friendship, loyalty, rootlessness, self-discovery, and dinosaurs.

That last sentence had me intrigued in spades. After watching a brief trailer, I had very Wes Anderson feelings about it.

I’m also working on a project that, if gone ahead with, would basically hijack my Wednesday posts from now until roughly this time next year, but more about that later. Just know plans are being made for (hopefully) more interesting content.

Sorry for the dud today, but hopefully you enjoyed hearing about Truberbrook.

Please be safe out there, friends. Cheers.

    • Well I appreciate that you think so, biased as you might be in my favor.

The mystery isn’t much of one, I’d just had a plan and it fell through due to things out of my control. Hopefully Friday.

  1. Truberbrook really gives me 90’s/early 00’s adventure games vibe. Like Syberia and The Longest Journey. It gives a creepy vibe into it. I hope you enjoy it!
