Status Report: Week 14 (Rootin’ Tootin’ Shootin’ And Lootin’)

From the moment the Borderlands remaster was announced I couldn’t WAIT to play it; then I waited four days after its release to play it until my partner returned from a week-long work trip. So go figure that when we started it last night, I had to bow out early because I was feeling so poorly. Boo! Boo on my unpredictable health!

This week I’m planning to hit it hard. Like, bonkers hard. I’m already loving the quality of life improvements made to the game (e.g.: money/ammo/health all suck up to you when you run past them like in the second game), but a couple things are still tripping me up (e.g.: the inventory screens). I’m sure I will get used to the inventory interface sooner than later, but I’ve already made at least one costly blunder because of the compare feature. Oops. Even so, I’m so happy to be back playing the first game with my very favorite co-op partner. I adore it.

This week will also be my foray into Tales From the Borderlands. I had hoped to start it over the weekend, but I’ve been doing a massive spring clean/overall decorating shakeup, and there wasn’t much gaming time. I even managed to snag four large canvases to paint new pieces and I’m SUUUUUUUUUPER excited!! I’ve been wanting to paint new pieces for, well, years now, and as I sit here writing this, those four canvases are stacked against the wall and I’m just itching to create. I’m always motivated by beautiful colors, and I can’t wait to change things up. Which is saying something, as typically I steer as far from change as I can. I hope this is a good thing. Every time I paint something large, I always worry I’m going to blow it. Infamously, the largest canvas I ever painted I planned terribly and hated it and broke it apart and shoved it in the dumpster; it was a huge disappointment for me. It’s far from the only canvas I’ve thrown away in my life, but I’m hoping to just go with whatever colors feel right at the time. I’m by no means a trained (or remotely talented) painter; I just love colors and I love putting them where I can see them. Abstract is my game. I’m feeling very Memphis Design colors and patterns, as well as Blood Dragon color schemes, so I’m interested to see what happens. I’m so ready for bold and rad new pieces on the walls.

I’m also going to go back to The Division 2 this week to see if I feel any differently about the endgame reveal. When I discovered it last week I was pretty let down, but I’m willing to give it another shot.

We are also in the process of changing up the things we have hanging on the walls. One of the reasons for this is that I’m finally, FINALLY going to put up my physical screenshot gallery I’ve always wanted! My hope is to rotate the pieces out every few months, and I can’t wait to get them on the walls where I can see them. A bunch of other things I’ve been wanting to get framed and on the wall are also in the works and I’m honestly really excited. Usually I just talk about wanting to do these things, but I’m finally actually DOING something about them and that feels good.

So this week will be a lot of change, but change I’m actually excited about. That’s a new one for me.

With that I ask: what will YOU be playing this week?

Please be safe out there, friends. Cheers!

  1. I hope you guys have fun with the Borderlands remaster! I’ll be plugging away at Destiny 2 and I’m down for the Division 2 when you’re up for it. I’ll also be continuing my painting I’ve been working on and writing some more fiction. Hoping for a good week!

  2. Huh… I must have missed the announcement that the remaster was out now. That’s cool. I hope you enjoy. I’ll probably not be jumping back in to Borderlands but who knows.

I’ll be starting Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver on the Playstation and maybe making a little progress in MLB The Show 19 on the PS4.
