I love taking screenshots in games. I love it so much, I’ve written about it no less than eleven times. But it wasn’t until I took the following screenshot that an idea occurred to me:
One of the many things that has gripped me about Fallout 76 is the game’s photo mode. The atmosphere is already engaging; having the photo mode to document it is a great big bonus.
I was playing with the various filters when I stumbled upon the one above and was immediately smitten. Then I realized: with how much I love taking screenshots, it’s a shame I don’t get to look at them more often.
That, mixed with my piece from yesterday about creating a teeny tiny art installation gave me an idea: I’d like to create a screenshot installation here at home.
I’d get five frames of decent size (images sized no smaller than 5×7 to preserve as much of the aspect ratio as possible), and periodically rotate out prints of my favorite screenshots.
How it took me this long to come up with this idea, I’ll never know.
Sure, it might take me quite some time to sort through the screenshots I’ve taken over the years, but I really like this idea. I like that I will be able to bring those previously digital moments to a physical fruition; getting to look at them every day will be lovely.
I’m going to start going through my files today to figure out which screenshots to print first!
This weekend I will be weirdly pining for Fallout 76 (come on, Wednesday!), trying to get the quest for the exotic bow in Destiny 2, and hopefully tackling something small to fill in the gaps. There are also a few books I’ve been wanting to read, and a couple of horror movies I’ve been wanting to watch. No matter how it shakes out, this weekend will be packed with excellent content for me.
With that I ask: what will you be playing this weekend?
Please be safe out there, friends. Cheers!
