Happy Halloween!! It’s my favorite time of year and my very favorite holiday.
Each year as Halloween rolls around, I feel this profound ache; I always want to do more to experience and celebrate the season and holiday, yet I rarely ever do anything at all outside of decorating.
I know this isn’t game related, but it’s Halloween so it felt appropriate.
My Halloween dream is to have a huge costume party/masquerade in a warehouse where everyone has to go through a mini-haunt to get to the actual party. I want crazy saturated lighting in intoxicating shades of orange and pink and red and dark purple. I want fog rolling around and long P.T.esque hallways with intentionally sparse lighting. I want an event heavy with atmosphere and dancing. I want the mini-haunt to be a quiet approach to the pounding of the music at the destination. I want an indoor cornfield and deliberate shadows that make people look twice. I want it to be just unnerving enough to keep people wondering, “What the hell is going on?”
But, most importantly, I want all the people I love and who love Halloween to be there.
Do I think this is ever going to happen? Probably not.
Is it still my dream? Yes, indeed.
Since my dream party isn’t in the cards this year (clearly), my “big” Halloween plans involve hanging up some really neat Halloween garland (I know, I know, I can’t be contained), putting on Trick ‘r Treat in the background, making chai lattes, and doing some cleaning and organizing.
I’m sure I will play some Festival of the Lost in Destiny 2, but I also may opt to just go to bed early.
What a rockin’ Halloween.
What will you be doing to celebrate Halloween?
Whatever you choose to do, please be safe out there. Happy Halloween, friends.
