Oh, my little villager/camp manager is so cute. To be fair, that’s an outfit I would absolutely wear in reality; I just need to find sunflower sunglasses.
Last week I decided to challenge myself to complete six new-to-me games before the end of July. I had high hopes over the past week that I’d complete at least one game to start things off on a positive note.
Guess what?
I didn’t play anything new. At all.
I know.
Instead of getting all over my own case as I normally might, I’m going to just try my best this week to make some progress.
In and of itself, that is progress.
Over the past week I played a whole lot of Destiny 2, as well as a whole lot of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.
In Pocket Camp, there is another limited-time event: Bloomin’ Booty with Kapp’n. Now I love Kapp’n, and in this event, he wants you to grow sunflowers and catch ladybug-like creatures. I love the sunflower aesthetic of the rewards, and my current campsite looks pretty sweet, if I do say so myself (and I just did). Phase two of the event kicks off on Tuesday night, and I’m more than ready. The gardening events are my least favorite, but this one has been reasonable so far. I hope that holds true for the second half, as well.
In Destiny 2, I’ve been continuing to level up and have finally finished the Escalation Protocol several times now. Over the weekend I played a lot of Crucible and I can honestly say I won’t be playing any more Crucible for a while (other than the weekly milestone requirement). The servers have often been suspect, but some of the things I was seeing were unbelievable and worse than I’ve ever seen them; this went beyond the usual rubber banding and such. I was seeing people on my radar who weren’t there. I would shoot people who were there, but they wouldn’t die. I’d shoot someone until they had literally no health and not only would they not die, but they would teleport elsewhere and suddenly have full health. I would get killed by people who weren’t there, even on the kill screen. I would get killed by “misadventure” even though nothing around me had happened.
Those issues aren’t even including the ongoing spawn issues. For the past several months, there have been major spawning issues. I will spawn right next to several people on the opposing team while they are taking a point. I will spawn in full view of people on the opposite team and get spawn killed (this has been happening A LOT). Several people on the opposing team will spawn directly behind me even though they have a point across the map and they will immediately kill me. On two particular maps, even if you manage to spawn without enemies around, the spawns can easily be camped from across the map and often are.
It’s infuriating.
I was in a match over the weekend and this guy from the opposing team was staying just out of bounds so our team continued to spawn there, then he would murder us immediately as he seemingly had endless heavy ammo. This same person also had infinite Shadowshot. It’s the only match in my whole life I’ve quit because there was no getting away from him. I also did something I almost never do: I reported him for cheating. The staying out of bounds wasn’t cheating per se, but the infinite Shadowshot was absolutely on the cheating scale.
It was disheartening. I hope they fix some of those issues for the upcoming expansion.
So, this week, I’m really going to knuckle down (which sounds hilarious when I’m talking about playing games) and play something new. I’m feeling stale.
I don’t want to feel stale.
With that I ask: what are you hoping to play this week? What is the next game to release that you’re really looking forward to?

Playing Sniper Elite 3; side quests in GoW. I’m looking forward to Spiderman, not sure what edition to get though.

Plan to trade in Sniper Elite 3, not feeling it like the follow-up game. Still playing GoW. Spiderman is too far away. I WANT to PLAY NOW!!

I honestly like that you know when to let a game go when you aren’t feeling it. I wish I was better at that, and I mean that sincerely.
You only have two months to wait! Not long now!

Hey Rebekah! Been playing side missions in GoW. When you get around to it, I think you’ll enjoy the ending. Two months is TOO long to wait for Spiderman when you have nothing to play. Ugh!

I’m glad to hear that you’re making progress, keep it going! I returned to Destiny 2 over the weekend but I have a lot of leveling up to do, I’m nowhere near Escalation Protocol mode level but it’s the mode I want to play most. Spider-Man and Tomb Raider will give me a full September playlist but I’m itching to play the last The Walking Dead season by Telltale in August. I’m trying to use July to level up in Destiny 2 and to finish up a few smaller games, most notably The Order: 1886 and Observer.

Hey! Welcome back to D2! Yeah, the leveling grind this time is just that: a grind. I’m only now just over 380 and I’ve been doing all the milestones each week other than the raid. It’s bonkers. I’ve only completed the protocol four times or so. It gets hectic and the final bosses rotate and each have their on strats.
You WILL have a full September! And I like the games on your list! I wish you much free time and success.
