It’s that time of life again, folks: jury duty! Granted, I’m only on call this week for jury duty but, depending on how things shake out, I’m not sure how much gaming I will be doing. I suppose I could always take my Switch with me and start in on Zelda while at the local courthouse. I may even be “that guy” and lick the cartridge to find out how awful it tastes. I’ve had my Switch since December and I’ve yet to lick a single component. Hooray for willpower!
Boy, this is already off to a weird start.
I’ve been playing a lot of Far Cry: Primal. When I say “A lot,” what I really mean is “More than I can comfortably handle while also eating and sleeping.” I’m just over 30 hours in and I’m only 54% finished with the game. It’s my least favorite Far Cry, but I do love several of the Far Cry aspects. It’s only making me more and more excited for Far Cry 5 (just one more month!). I’m hoping to finish it this week so I can start…
Crossing Souls! Crossing Souls is a game I’ve had my eye on for some time, and it’s finally arrived. I can’t wait to play a game that lets you toggle between the world of the living and the world of the dead. Granted you could kind of do that in Guacamelee! but this game has a decidedly different tone. I’m looking forward to playing it and hopefully getting a review out the door for it.
Late last week I (against my better judgement) logged on to Destiny 2 for the Crimson Days event (all one week of it) because I really wanted the sparrow that leaves petals in its wake. After several rounds of Crimson Doubles (what an odd mode that is), I wound up with not one, but three exotic sparrows filled with petals. There are two different exotic sparrows for the event and I managed to get two of one, and one of the other. I kind of want to try for some of the other items (namely, the heart emote), but I also don’t know if it’s worth the time investment.
It probably isn’t.
I will probably just play more Far Cry.
My partner just started Dying Light so I may hop back in to join him in some Harran high jinx. My friend Skiffles and I used to play a lot of Dying Light and there was little funnier than getting rid of a ton of zombies and instead of the game rendering their bodies, there would be what we affectionately referred to as “crack bags” of loot.
There they are! I keep wondering when we will hear about a Dying Light sequel, but that seems a ways off since they are still updating the first one.
I can dream.
I’m also hoping to get to a few smaller games this week, and maybe even playing a few rounds of Overwatch at some point. I’d love if I could get that Pharah skin, but I have a feeling that’s a pipe dream.
Alas.
Apologies if today’s piece is disjointed; I’ve been sleeping really poorly for over a week now (getting on average four hours of sleep a night) and it’s making my thinker think less good.
Here’s hoping I also get to play that glorious game called REST this week.
With that I ask: what are you hoping to play this week? Any new games coming out you are looking forward to?

Dying Light, on someone’s recommendation; probably a bit more Always Sometimes Monsters. If you end up serving, may it be an interesting, non-tragic case.
