Oh look: it’s me (still) playing hide and seek with my immune system. Guess who’s winning?
Hint: it’s not me.
Friends, I am awash in a sea of amazing new games and I haven’t played anything at all. I didn’t even get to play any of the Overwatch event, and I’d had such high hopes that I’d be able to play at least a teeny part of it.
But nope.
At least two games released in the past ten days (both of which I have ready access to) clock in around a very manageable three hours (or, so I’ve read), and I’ve yet to play either.
If I can’t play even a couple of matches of Overwatch here and there, I’m really screwed.
Yesterday, my lovely special edition of Little Nightmares arrived (yes, on a Sunday!), and it’s one of the more interesting editions of a game I’ve seen. It not only came with a little statue of the main character (Six, seen above in her yellow slicker), but a soundtrack and a sheet of stickers, as well. That’s my idea of a solid edition!
Now if I could just summon the energy to play it.
I’m super hoping to finally play What Remains of Edith Finch, as I’ve yet to start that either. This year has already been one of the best ever for game releases, and go freaking figure that I’ve been sick since January! It’s getting tedious. I’m sick of being sick. I’m sure people are sick of hearing about it (I’m sorry). I just keep moving forward in hopes that one day, I just might be able to function like a normal human being.
High hopes, for sure.
I was already feeling hopelessly behind when I realized Prey releases this week. Good gravy. When I finally am at a place where I feel like I can play games again, where will I even start? There are so many options of both shorter and longer experiences. It’s overwhelming.
I downloaded the demo for Prey and (once again) thought there was a chance I’d be able to play it to get a feel for the actual release. As you have likely concluded, I didn’t get to it. But the more I hear it compared to BioShock in space, the more intrigued I am. I do wish I had been able to try it for myself before the game launches on Friday, as I’m just now reminded, since this is a Bethesda release, there will no longer be early review copies out in the wild. It will likely be a while before we see any reviews floating around. I do wonder how it will score.
So, while I’d love to say this is the week things change, I have a sinking feeling it may be more of the same. As always, I’m hoping for the best anyway.
What will you be playing this week? Will you be getting Prey?
And now, I am going to go to bed. Finally. I’ve been resting off and on like crazy this past week. I expect I will see the rest of today come noontime.

It’s super disappointing you didn’t play anything. Still working on Persona 5 and playing Overwatch. I don’t think I’ll be getting prey.

Ugh, I know. And I feel badly for letting you down. I had really wanted to play the PvE event together.
I hope you are having a good time with Persona!

I’m sorry to hear you’re still not feeling well. I really hope that whatever this is clears up soon. I’m still playing and enjoying Persona 5 and Red Dead Redemption. I’ll most likely finish Red Dead sooner. I’m interested in Prey, but I’m not sure I’ll be picking it up right away. I’m intrigued by Little Nightmares as well since what I’ve seen of it looks a lot like Limbo and Inside. I didn’t know there was a physical release, but I’ll most likely end up buying digital.

Oh man, me too. This is just straight up bonkers. I NEVER thought I’d still be sick months later.
Man, those are two huge games. I hope you enjoy both of them! As for Little Nightmares, I’m right there with you. It looks disturbingly gorgeous, and I am definitely getting an Inside vibe.

Well you keep on taking care of yourself! All of those games will still be there to play. I hope you’re feeling better soon. Personally, I’ve one more long work night today and then it’s over (for now). Luckily the congressional budget that released today is mostly good news so that’s a work-related relief. I’ve continued playing Overwatch and in playing Mercy I’ve found fun in the approach not to kill the enemy but to keep my team alive. I may get a game day tomorrow and I’m so giddy with anticipation that I don’t know what to play. I definitely want to play the Prey demo, it’s not likely a release day pick up for me if only because I already have stacks of neglected games.

I will. I’m actually headed back to another specialist today. So we will see what happens. Probably nothing, but at least I will have gone.
Hey, that’s great to hear! I hope your work has concluded as planned and that you are deep in a gaming cocoon.
If you don’t mind my asking: what do you do? Your mention of the congressional budget has my interest piqued.
Cheers to all your gaming!

I echo everyone else’s sentiments. Still going through Andromeda. Found another freefall glitch during Liam’ loyalty mission. Ugh, these glitches are causing me to not finish the game. Anyone have this experience during their gaming session(s)? Going to try & finish that tomorrow; push through the Meridian mission.

Oh man, some of those glitches seem pretty crazy. It’s hard to believe those weren’t found and patched out quite a while back.
I hope you finish Andromeda soon!

I agree; they didn’t patch those! Imho, they can be game-breaking, if you have put in several hours. No?! Looking to finish up the game soon. I don’t plan to replay it again; it’s not enough content, imho, to try to replay. If that makes sense! Thoughts?

That absolutely makes sense. If you don’t want to replay it, you shouldn’t!

Prey is looking very promising, but I probably won’t start anything new until I’m done with Persona 5. That’s gonna take me a while…
This really has been a crazy good year to be a gamer, it really sucks that you have been sick through this whole year.

That makes sense. Persona 5 seems to be one heck of a meaty game.
I really believe 2017 will go down as one of the best year for games, ever. And I concur about the sick part. It’s so absurd, it’s borderline funny.

I, too, hope you’re healing and soon well. I’ll likely continue playing Horizon, maybe take up Blackwood Crossing.

I hope you enjoy your time with the robo-dinos and the exploration.

I finally finished Persona 5 on sunday! Long but pretty good 92 hours. Then I played PaRappa The Rapper 2 because why not. I liked, too! Good enough for an 1-hour game. Now I’m playing through the infamous Resident Evil 6, halfway through Chris campaign…I’m really enjoying my time with it…I totally get why people disliked it, but I can’t help myself…I love all the dumb action scenes and cheesy dialog, coupled with “good enough” gameplay. I have not decided what to play next…I have lots of older games to play…Bayonetta, Darksiders 1 and 2, Prototype, Star Wars Force Unleashed 2 and Saints Row 2. I want to play Nier, but I’ll have to wait a little longer to buy it.
Keep it going!
