I finally have good news to share: over the past week I’ve completed two new-to-me games! I know that’s not normally newsworthy, but considering the last game I completed was in May, I’m excited! I’m one-fifth of the way to completing my challenge!
I’m doooooooooing it!
I finally played Dear Esther (I enjoyed it, though I think the pacing would have benefit from a faster movement speed), and I played through all the possible storylines of Burly Men at Sea, a whimsical and oddly moving game about, unsurprisingly, three burly men at sea. I liked it so much more than I expected, and the soundtrack was lovely. So lovely, I downloaded it from the PlayStation Store last night.
I do love video game soundtracks.
This week is going to be a bit of an anomaly here on my site, as I’m headed out on holiday. I will still be posting on my regular schedule, but the pieces may be shorter than usual. Like today!
While away, I’m hoping to play through Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, and possibly Super Mario Odyssey. I’m taking my pro controller and everything! I’m sure I will also still be playing Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, as there is yet another limited time gardening event. I also have a game downloaded on my phone called Mountain, and I’m curious to get to that, too.
Over the next week, I will get to make a pilgrimage to one of my favorite places in the world: Ground Kontrol. It’s been one of my favorite places in Portland since 2005, and I make a point to get there at least once or twice each time I’m in the area. It is, hands down, the best arcade I’ve been to anywhere. I will also hit up Powell’s City of Books (dreamy, dreamy, dreamy), and my favorite restaurant in the world: Justa Pasta. All that is to say nothing of seeing family and friends, which is the point of the trip!
I keep thinking about taking my 3DS so I can play Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, but I’m trying to be realistic on what I will get to and when. But the idea of staying up late in a sleeping bag and playing some Luigi’s Mansion sounds adorable as heck, so I might do it, anyway.
With that I ask: what will YOU be playing this week? When you go on holiday, do you get any gaming done in your downtime? Or do you leave all gaming at home? (I am always torn between both options.)
Today I’m hoping to get to a couple titles like Far From Noise and Nex Machina. We’ll see how that pans out, but I’d love to get another couple of games under my belt sooner than later.
Please be safe out there friends. Cheers.

Enjoy your vacation!
I hope to be playing some Fortnite, Octopath Traveler, and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night this week. But I’m also reviewing a game releasing next week, so I kind of need to play a bit more of that so I can write the review this weekend.

It’s about time you had some good news happen to you, good for you! Keep this up and you’ll win this challenge in no time!
Right now, I’m only playing Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories, and I’m getting pretty close to the end of that. I’m hoping to get into something new this week.
Enjoy your holiday!

Wheee! Thank you! And man, I really hope to.
Oh gosh, how is that going? I feel like the Kingdom Hearts series is super confusing. I have the games on PS4 and have always wanted to play them myself but holy good gravy.
What new game do you think you will play?
Thank you!

Added Burly Men at Sea to my steam wishlist, looks interesting!
Right now i’m just waiting for the end of the month. Super excited for Shenmue, Guacamelee 2 and Yakuza Kiwami 2! GIVE ME THEM ALL! My xbox one has also been acting weird, so I’m doing what I really wanted to do for a while now, getting an X! Strangely enough, all the games I want this month are on ps4. But hey, Red Dead 2 in 4k! I’m even more excited for that now!
Have a good vacation and play some Odyssey! Lovely game!

Oh my gosh, we have a LOT of good titles coming this month! And nice! I hope you like the X! I can’t believe RDR2 is coming in just two months. Holy crap.
Thank you! And I hope to!

Keeping on gaming and have a fantastic vacation! I’m not a handheld gamer and so I hardly play any games when I go out of town. We’re either too busy to plug in my laptop for very long and/or in areas with a poor internet connection.
At the moment, I’m sinking time into Overwatch learning the most recent characters. I had no idea about the Brigitte hate! It’s been fun to return and coming back after a few months away hasn’t cost me a penny which is giving me a lot of respect for Blizzard.

Thank you! And honestly that makes sense to me. When I go out of town, I do like to focus on going places and seeing people so there is seldom time for gaming (excluding the arcade I always go to). And I hear you on handheld gaming; I’m seemingly less and less into it (other than Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp) for whatever reason.
Hey! That sounds fun! And I don’t know about the Brigitte hate? People hate her? She seems like a neat character.

I had a fantastic and lasting (and occasional revisiting) time w/ Nex Machina. I hope you enjoy it. I’ll play little over vacation, but will likely play more of the Solstice of Heroes events (D2) upon our return.
