I have officially gotten sick of my various levels of inaction, so I devised a plan to thwart myself: a challenge!
First, a recap of what I played over the past week: Destiny 2 (faction rallies…again) and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful to play anything at all, but I’m yearning for something new; new to me, at any rate.
So I decided I’d challenge myself to complete six games by the end of July.
I saw a thread in a video game group I belong to where people were talking about it being halfway through the year, and various folks started to discuss what games they had completed so far in 2018, as well as what their current game of the year was.
Each year, I keep a notebook of all things gaming. I keep a list of which games I’ve completed, which games I’ve played, and games I want to keep my eye on.
I consulted my list yesterday to verify just how unproductive I’ve been in 2018.
My sad list is as follows (in order by date completed):
1.1.18 Mr. Massagy
3.1.18 Far Cry: Primal
3.9.18 It’s Spring Again
4.21.18 Borderlands 2 (again)
4.22.18 Far Cry 5
5.5.18 Borderlands 2: Captain Scarlett DLC
5.12.18 Borderlands 2: Mr. Torgue DLC
For someone who writes about games and loves games, that list is awfully short.
Time to do something about that.
Last night I went through all my current gen games and realized I’m so much more behind than I thought. I made a list of games I have that I’m interested in playing for this challenge, and the list was long; 67 games long.
My top ten to play (as of right now) are as follows:
Detroit: Become Human
Murdered: Soul Suspect
Shape of the World
Through the Woods
I could sit here and expound on why I want to play these. I could list all the games I’m choosing between and why I want to play them. Instead, I’m going to keep this one brief and head on over to the system to actually play the damn things.
Cheers to ambitious challenges!
With that I ask, what will you be playing this week? I will be playing any of the above. Please wish me progress!
