Recap: Nintendo’s E3 2018 Press Conference

Nintendo closed out the major press conferences of E3 2018 with their direct this morning. Here are the highlights.

The Direct opened with a trailer for Daemon X Machina. The game releases in 2019.

A trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s DLC, Torna: The Golden Country, was shown. It releases in September 2018.

Reggie Fils-Aime took the screen to introduce Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokemon: Let’s Go Eevee. The game releases on 11.16.18.

A trailer for Super Mario Party was shown. The game releases on 10.05.18.

A trailer for Fire Emblem: Three Houses was shown. The game releases spring 2019.

A trailer for Fortnite was shown. The game releases today!

Overcooked 2 releases on 08.07.18.

Killer Queen Black releases in 2018.

Hollow Knight releases today!

Octopath Traveler is coming to Switch on 07.13.18.

A slew of smaller titles was shown and, I’m going to be really honest with you, they were announced so fast I couldn’t get them all. My apologies there. Many lovely looking titles in the montage.

Shinya Takahashi took the screen to talk about games coming to Switch.

Masahiro Sakurai took the screen to talk about Super Smash Bros. Every fighter in Smash history is joining the battle for this iteration of Smash. Eight-player battles will return. Several characters were given updates.

(Side note: the stream struggled throughout, but was especially bad during the Smash segment. I had to restart it no less than two dozen times.)

A new fighter is being added to the roster: Ridley from Metroid.

The game is titled Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and releases on 12.07.18.

  1. I was… underwhelmed. I wish they had condensed the Smash presentation down a bit and gave us updates on Metroid and Yoshi but can’t have everything.
