As far as game challenges go, this month is right on track. Even though things are going well, I’m determined to ensure success. I made it through Borderlands 2 in good time. I suspect Dead Island will be done within the next 24 hours, and that only leaves Dead Island: Riptide. Hooray!
My co-op partner and I are currently at around the 59% completion for the game, and he knows his Dead Island. I have full confidence that we will finish it in good time. He has apparently played the game six times previously, and knows of all these neato secrets that I never knew. It’s also a totally different experience playing the game with another person, as I played the first game completely solo. I played the second game with a friend (GRUNTSSS!) after I completed it solo, and it changed the experience infinitely for the better.
This is gonna be GREAT!
I’m so comfy with this month’s challenge that I’m already thinking ahead to next month. I usually wait to say what it is, but I’m just too excited after E3. The Resident Evil 7: Biohazard reveal got me super excited for a Resident Evil game for the first time ever. As some of you already know, I love horror movies, and I love horror games. So the month of July is survival horror month. I have a bevy of games to choose from, and I already can’t wait. Some of the games on my list are as follows:
Alan Wake
Among the Sleep
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds
Condemned: Criminal Origins
Condemned 2: Bloodshot
The Evil Within
Fatal Frame
Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly
Fatal Frame III: The Tormented
Knock-Knock
Layers of Fear
Manhunt
Murdered Soul Suspect
Obscure: The Aftermath
Outlast
Oxenfree
Resident Evil: Revelations
Shadows of the Damned
Silent Hill
Silent Hill 2
Silent Hill 3
Silent Hill 4: The Room
Silent Hill: Downpour
Silent Hill: Homecoming
Silent Hill: Origins
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories
Siren
Siren: Blood Curse
Soma
State of Decay
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
The Walking Dead: Season 2
I know not all of those are proper horror titles, but they sway just enough in that direction that I felt comfortable to include them here.
Another thing I’d like to do in the next couple of days is actually play the Resident Evil 7: Biohazard demo for myself. I’ve seen footage of it, but I want to experience it firsthand.
Goals!
To swing back to Dead Island for a moment, I wasn’t sure what to expect because it had been so long since I played it originally. Well…it’s rougher than I remembered. It still chugs in places, even on current gen. The game looks washed out most of the time, and far too dark the others. The game is still buggy as heck. I would have honestly thought some of these issues would have been patched out long ago.
Turns out: not so much.
Either way, it’s still fun, though I’m definitely looking forward to Riptide way more. The addition of the John character is the raddest. His super kick never gets old. I will play as John for sure.
So with that, I bid you a lovely week. It’s been hot as can be here in southern California, and it only looks to get (or stay) hotter. Let’s all keep cool and stay inside with some bitchin’ games!
I also ask: what are YOU playing while it’s hot hot hot out? What types of games does the summer heat put you in the mood for?

Alan Wake was one of my favorite 360 games. Glad you’re challenge is going well. After Dishonored 2 was shown at E3 I’ve been wanting to play the first game I’ve never played it to completion.

I started it about a year ago but only got a few chapters in and stalled out. At this point I’d just start it all over.
Oh my gosh, you should totally play Dishonored! It’s wonderful.

I should be getting Dishonored in the mail sometime this week.

I felt really dumb, because I saw Oxenfree on this list, and was like “isn’t that an indie skateboarding game?”
But no, that’s Olliolli. As in, “Olli Olli oxen free”.

No need to feel dumb! (Also, HI BRAD!)
I could totally see how the brain would make that connotation. And that just reminds me that I need to start Trials of the Blood Dragon. I’m not into the Trials games, but I had to get it after the Blood Dragon addition. :)

I’m playing Atelier Sophie at the moment, puttering along!

Wow, really? That much rain in mid June? If you could just shove that on over here, that would be great. California needs it!
Ooh…how is it?

Hmmm. Well hopefully it wows you sooner than later.
I’ve actually got a lot of upcoming JRPGs on my mind lately. Persona 5 is at the forefront.

A pity I’ll have to wait for Persona 5 to reach the Vita…

Oh no, really? Darn. I know Japan gets it this year, but we don’t get it here in the states until February. The more I see of it, the more I like it.
