It may or may not come as a surprise to anyone out there that I am not a huge proponent of Valentine’s day. It’s just not my thing. I don’t require cards, flowers, and certainly not chocolate (not a fan) of any kind to appreciate my partner. I do not require wooing.
I am sufficiently wooed on a fundamental level. I am grateful for this.
That being said, I am more than supportive of folks out there who get real enjoyment from the day. I mean this sincerely.
I also find it sort of humorous that this year, it comes the day after Friday the 13th.
(snicker)
My Valentine’s day ritual (and really, all my weird holiday rituals) involves watching horror movies that are central to that particular “holiday.” This weekend, I will watch the 2001 “gem,” Valentine (there are far more quotation marks in this paragraph than I had intended). I may also wedge in a viewing of the 1981, My Bloody Valentine (the film is a bit gross, but I do have a fondness for horror movies of this era), though that is a toss up.
I know for certain, today will have at least a small showing of the Friday the 13th films.
Welcome to my sense of occasion.
With all these proverbial cards on the table, allow me to share a few video game themed valentine cards that the lovely internet has allowed me to find. While some are cute, some are downright funny.
Friends, enjoy the creative folks of the internets.
It should come as no surprise to anyone that this would be my favorite. BioShock forever.
Oh, Dead Island. How adorably inappropriate.
This is the nicest thing Kratos may ever be able to say.
Awww. This just makes me want to hop back into Pokemon X.
I would expect nothing less from Tiny Tina.
BWAAAAAAAAA!!! This is one of the best valentines I found.
This made me snicker. I love it.
As cynical as I am about Valentine’s day, I genuinely do appreciate that there are many people out there who love it and celebrate it. To either side of this coin, I wish you all a positive weekend of silliness.
Cheers!
