Status Report: Week 7 (A Heck Of A Week)

I’m excited about this week; not only will I get to dive in to Metro Exodus (I mean, just look at it), but I’m finally going to get to finish a game I started when it released back in January of 2017: Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. I had started it when it released, then became terribly sick for ten months (that’s not a typo) and wasn’t able to play games for a huge part of that time. I talked to a friend about it the other day and he offered to be my sensei while I stumble around in the virtual dark of the Baker estate.

I am a huge sucker for horror in any entertainment medium, and I love teaming up with friends so this is a rad plan for me. I hope my friend will find enjoyment in the experience, too. I’m sure I will make many wonderful noises of surprise as I’m stalked through the various environments.

Over the weekend I wound up spending the majority of my gaming time playing Crimson Doubles in Destiny 2. I’m not remotely a fan of the Crucible, but I find Crimson Doubles (and the restrictions involved) interesting. I like that you have to stay close to your partner and that so many things fall to sh*t if you get too far apart. And every time it said I was “reunited” with my co-op partner, I had to smile; it’s just adorable.

I’m still a ways off from completing every associated triumph for Crimson Days, and I’m not sure I will pursue it today. I’ll see how I feel about it.

Over the weekend I rode an unintentional emotional roller coaster of finding out there was a Piranha Plant Amiibo made, that it had been available for pre-order for some time, that I never knew about it, and that it was sold out everywhere I could find, both online, as well as my local brick and mortar stores. The only ones I could find were on the grey market for twice the retail price.

Barf.

I have this weird fascination with Piranha Plant. He was the SOLE reason I bought Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at launch. I love him. I don’t even buy Amiibo, but I WANTED that Piranha Plant.

I lamented the situation on social media in the same thread I’d found out about PP’s existence in the first place, and, through the insane kindness of one of my co-op partners, it looks like Piranha Plant will be putting down roots with me.

(Cue an angelic choir of 100 Piranha Plants singing or whatever they can do that approximates singing.)

I’ve already picked out his spot and everything. Now I just need to play Smash Ultimate and play AS Piranha Plant.

One thing at a time.

Shoot! I could start Smash this week, too! I mean, why the heck not?

So, as you can see, I’ve got an eclectic week ahead: Metro Exodus, Resident Evil 7 in tandem with a friend, and maybe some Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and/or Destiny 2’s Crimson Days. Whew!

With that I ask: what will YOU be playing this week?

Whatever you choose, please be safe out there friends. Cheers.

  1. Not sure if I’ll be playing anything. I have heard that Anthem might not be released on the expected due date due to the beta/demo issues. Awaiting reviews on that. Might do some GoW side content.

  2. Interesting list of games! Still need to play RE7. I went from “I dislike Resident Evil” to “I’ve played eight of them now” this gen but I still need to play 7.

Metro looks pretty good. Looking forward for your screenshots thread!

I just finished Crackdown 3 earlier today. For the rest of the week I will keep playing Astro Bot and start a new game yet to be decided.

    Have a great week!

    • HA! I love when games (or, in your case, a series) can turn us around on them. I hope we both play RE7!

Metro is a weird nut to crack for me. I’m not sure how well it and I are going to mesh, unfortunately.

Congratulations on finishing Crackdown 3! What did you think? Did you decide on your next game?

I hope you have a great week, too!
