Happy Friday the 13th!
Every time a Friday the 13th rolls around, I have a bit of a tradition; due to some nifty things now available, I can improve upon it!
I am a huge fan of a sense of occasion, and I love certain traditions. Every Friday the 13th, I have a Friday the 13th horror movie marathon consisting of, big shock, the Friday the 13th movies. I don’t often make it through all of them, but I always put on the first (it’s on in the background as I write this!), then hop around to whichever ones happen to strike my fancy.
Since Friday the 13th the game released this year, I am also going to pop in and play at least a couple of matches for giggles. I haven’t played it in months so I’m not sure what the queue times might be, but I’d be willing to boot it up to find out. If the wait times to get into a match are excessively long, I may opt out.
But the big fun for today just so happens to be a rarity for me: I’m going to see a horror movie releasing today!
I don’t often go to the theatre to see movies (the last time was to see the Blair Witch reboot in September of last year!). Where we live, more often than not, the people in the theatre are terribly rude: cell phones on, talking, etc. Most of the time I will wait to see pretty much any film once it comes out on Blu-ray, but certain new horror movies I just can’t wait to see. Today is one of those rare times.
The movie is called Happy Death Day and I’m a fan of the writer/director: Christopher Landon (yes, Michael Landon’s son!). He wrote and directed Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones (my favorite in the series by far), as well as wrote the script for Disturbia and most of the other Paranormal Activity films.
I have had an amusing track record with the last few horror films I’ve been too impatient to wait for and wound up seeing in the theatre. They have all been…not so great. This wouldn’t be an issue if I was going solo, but my partner always joins me even though he’s not particularly fond of horror movies. I’m hoping Happy Death Day breaks the trend of stinkers. I feel confident it very well might.
And I hope we wind up with courteous theatre-mates.
Other than that, I hope to do a little more Halloween decorating today to make things as atmospheric as possible for the weekend. I have to admit, I am excited!
This weekend, the plan is to play all kinds of games and not just Destiny 2. I think I can do it!
With that I ask: what will you be playing over the weekend? Will you be doing anything for Friday the 13th?
No matter your plans, please be safe out there. And if you see a black cat, for god’s sake, pet it!
Spooky cheers, friends!

It has been an absolutely atrocious week. I am ecstatic that it’s Friday. Friday the 13th no less! I’ve no specific plans yet other than I may carve a pumpkin tonight. We’ve episodes of season 2 of The Exorcist queuing in our DVR and so it may be a good weekend to watch it. I’m excited for the finale of Fear the Walking Dead too. In gaming, I need to finish Uncharted: The Lost Legacy as well as get into Iron Banner and Overwatch for the time limited loot. I think I’ve settled on buying Assassin’s Creed: Origins and so I keep chipping away at my Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag play through. Enjoy your movie night! May the snacks be tasty and the fellow patrons keep their cell phones off!

Oh Megan, I hate to hear that for you! I so wish your work would allow you to take a moment. All that stress has to feel corrosive at times.
I’m also so glad it is Friday!
I hope you get to carve your pumpkin! Also, I didn’t know there was an Exorcist television show!
I wish you much progress in your games, but I will say this about Iron Banner: it’s not the same. Collecting tokens just to “rank up” and get lackluster gear that doesn’t even help you level…I don’t care for it. And no Iron Banner gear drops at the end of each match is a step back as well. None of it drops at useful numbers.
I am SOOO excited for Origins! And I hope you enjoy Black Flag. It’s one of the most beautiful looking games I’ve seen on this gen. Those water physics!!
Thank you!! I’m just so excited to be going and to be going with my partner. First time we’ve gone anywhere this year for leisure!

How was the movie? That Friday the 13th game looks cool. I hope you didn’t have to wait long and got to enjoy the game. For this weekend, I’m going to go see It.

I felt the movie was only okay, but I was still just so glad to be there!
The Friday the 13th game can be a lot of fun with friends but the game itself is a bit rough.
Did you get a chance to see the movie? If so, what did you think?
A smile right back to you! :)

I loved “It.” The clown was creepy, I jumped in some parts, truly terrified. Spoiler alert–that lady in the painting was SPOOKY lol. The kids were adorable; I rooted for them the whole way.
I’ve never really seen a Friday the 13th movie except for the one with Jared Padalecki. I really enjoyed it. As a kid and teen, I was always more into Nightmare on Elm Street.

Oh man, I’m glad you had a good time! I can’t wait to see It, too! And it seems like there is a renaissance of excellent child actors. Speaking of, I’m excited for season two of Stranger Things! It’s so close!
I saw that Friday the 13th, too and I liked it well enough, but I recall it being pretty gross in parts. I just got the complete Nightmare series and I don’t think I’ve seen past four or so. I’m interested to see what I’ve missed!
The Halloween series was always my jam. The third one is just so bizarre. I love it. :)

I can’t wait for Stranger Things season 2! I’m so excited that Eleven is still alive. Yeah, I remember that Friday the 13th being very gross. I think ever since Saw appeared on the big screen, horror movies have upped their gross factor.
