I don’t want to toot my own horn here, but holy TOOT TOOT, Batman! I managed to do something besides completely suck this past weekend!
Allow me to backtrack just a little.
On Friday, a friend and I ended up chatting via PSN party chat, and we were talking about all the delicious Destiny news released over the past week. We both adore Destiny, so we had much to discuss. He was actually playing Destiny, and I decided to log in just to see if the last artifact I needed from Felwinter Peak happened to be available (it was) so I could complete my set and collect that trophy.
After logging in, my friend mentioned that I should look in my record book for Age of Triumph as there were many things to unlock (mostly emblems). I started looking through the book and saw several little things I could do to unlock more progress, so I decided to do some of the less intense things (e.g.: disturb the remains).
After doing that, I felt strange physically for trying to concentrate on the game, but pleased I even tried.
But on Saturday, I actually played.
That’s right. You heard me (or, read me, rather). I finally broke my awful four month period of almost complete gamelessness with several hours of Destiny, rounding up more of those Age of Triumph requirements.
The surprising part? I actually played okay. I still had trouble focusing and after I was done, I didn’t feel terribly well, but I could have felt a lot worse. All in all, I consider it a rousing success. I’m so grateful I managed to make it through a few hours, and of an FPS no less! It was even funnier that a friend messaged me via PSN while I was playing with the following message:
OMG!!!!!!!!! You are playing games
It made me terribly amused.
I had intended to play something on Sunday, but it didn’t end up happening. I’ve been needing more sleep recently, and I was in bed until nearly 4pm. When I finally got up, I felt so strange that I wasn’t sure playing was a great idea. Also, my friend was in the Crucible and I knew I wouldn’t be up for that, so I decided to pass and to watch the first three episodes of the new Twin Peaks, instead.
No regrets.
But after this weekend, I’m feeling emboldened to try to play more games. I feel like this week I just might be able to start sinking into some of my hefty 2017 backlog. And that’s a very good thing.
I’m so glad to have been able to play, I can’t even tell you. And to be able to play an FPS? Well that’s just a bonus I wasn’t expecting.
With that I ask: what did you play over the weekend? What are you hoping to get to this week?
There may not be any games releasing this week that I’m interested in, but I am super looking forward to finally getting to see Get Out since it releases on Blu-ray tomorrow. If anyone talks about it here, please no spoilers! I’ve managed to avoid them until now and I’m looking forward to experiencing it firsthand.
I’m looking forward to more game playing this week!

Congratulations on getting some gaming time in! I hope you keep this momentum going and get to some of the games on your backlog! In addition to Persona 5 and Red Dead Redemption, I ended up buying and playing Alan Wake on PC since it was on sale. I like the aesthetic and plot but the combat got really annoying over time.
I also just watched the first episode of the new Twin Peaks season yesterday. I still don’t have a clue what’s going on but I’ll keep watching.

Thank you! It was a glorious day, indeed!
Holy cow you have several great games going. Also you are reminding me that I never finished Alan Wake on 360. I should go back and do it, but hearing you say the combat got annoying does make me want to play it on easy simply so I can experience the story and not worry about combat so much.
How are you enjoying Persona 5?
Oh man, I’ve now watched the first four episodes of the new Twin Peaks and I get where you are coming from. It’s fascinating but also completely baffling at times. And I love David Lynch but holy heck there have been some…strange moments. I can’t wait to find out where it goes.

I played a bunch of GTA IV, I think I’ll beat it tonight. Next on my list…Bayonetta or Toy Story 3.

Thank you, ME TOO!! I actually managed to force myself to play some yesterday, too since a friend needed help with something so I logged on to do that. Wheee!
Oh dang, nice! Oh my gosh, I played and LOVED Toy Story 3. The toy box mode was so much fun to unlock things in. :)
