I’m back in the habit of playing regularly and it feels great! I’m no longer psyching myself out on starting new (or, at least, new to me) games.
It’s sort of thrilling, actually.
This past week I’ve been playing a little Destiny here and there, but mostly I’ve been playing Rise of the Tomb Raider. Sure, I played it through when it released back on Xbox One, but I’m finding the PS4 version to control a little better, no matter how bizarre that sounds.
The only trouble I’m getting into is that I’m wanting to finish the game sooner than later because this week is THE WEEK.
Dishonored 2 releases on the 11th, but due to my pre-order, I will have it on the 10th! It’s pretty amazing that the game I’ve been frothing over for the last year and a half will finally be in my hands in a matter of days.
Exciting times.
The other fun hurdle this week is that I just received Titanfall 2 in the post and I’d like to at least play through the campaign before Dishonored 2 comes out. I fully admit I’ve fallen prey to the incredible hype surrounding the campaign for Titanfall 2 and I want to see what I think about it.
So, it’s safe to say, my month of blockbusters is in full swing.
I think it’s also safe to say that I will complete the main story of Rise of the Tomb Raider today, but I’d still like to play through the various DLCs (particularly the Baba Yaga DLC) before moving on to Titanfall 2.
It’s such a great time to be a gamer. There are so many exciting games both on the precipice of release, as well as on the near (and distant) horizon, it makes my head spin.
One thing I’ve found, playing through Rise of the Tomb Raider a second time, is just how engaged I am with all the optional side content…except the hunting.
I’ve never been a fan of hunting in games (and liked games in spite of the mechanic), and this is no different. I force myself to do it to finish leveling things up, but I always, involuntarily, apologize to the digital creatures as I’m shooting them with my bow and arrow.
I hate hurting creatures, even digitally.
However, I do love bow and arrow mechanics, and both Rise of the Tomb Raider, as well as the preceding reboot, have had some of the best bow and arrow mechanics out there. I find myself thinking that each time I play it.
I’m also noticing the sound design more this time than before, but that could be due to the fact that I’ve been playing it with headphones so I can hear all the wonderfully crafted noises in my ear holes. I have to say, between the PlayStation Gold headset and being able to plug standard earphones directly into the controller, I’ve grown to appreciate sound design in games so much more than I ever have before. Sure, I have a speaker system connected to the television, but I rarely use it because I worry it will upset the pup’s ears. Earphones are a great alternative.
Tangent over.
I think I’m well on track to continue making progress this week, and that feels good.
And, on a bit of a patriotic note, I encourage everyone to get out and vote tomorrow. No matter what you believe or who you are behind, please vote. I’m not sure it’s ever been more important.
Cheers friends. Please be safe out there.
With that I ask: what are you planning on playing this week?

I think that’s what my game challenge posts every Monday touch on; what I’m playing and when and what I think of whatever games those happen to be. I like staying current. I may change that a bit next year, but the weekly Monday post of what I’m playing currently will be a mainstay.

Sometimes, if you keep hearing about a game enough you just might play it. That’s how I got into playing Mafia 3; for the longest I was on the fence about it. Finally, I just “bit the bullet”, no pun intended!

I had no idea you were interested in it; do you think you will get it? Are you more interested in the campaign or the multiplayer?

I’m still deciding on whether to start Titanfall 2 or Battlefield 1. I’m leaning towards Titanfall but I’m hesitating on installing it for the strangest reason. I’m running low on storage on my Xbox One and aside from deciding what game I want to uninstall for the space, I have to resign myself to potentially losing an entire play session on the installation. Weird, but one of those quirks I have this gen. I hope you enjoy Dishonored 2!

Oh man, I hear that! For some reason, it takes games FOREVER to install on my Xbox One, and like no time at all on my PS4. It’s bizarre. The last game I installed on the One took the better part of the day and kept pausing itself for no reason…did I mention this was from a disc? It was just weird.
Today is all about Dishonored 2!!!

Nope, I was hoping to get to it by now, but all my progress on Dishonored 2 halted due to…POKEMON SUN! That’s all I’ve been playing. I adore it.
I keep hearing great things about Titanfall 2 though. Maybe watch the Test Chambers on GI?

I already have it! But I think I saw it on PSN for less? I could have been imagining that, though.

Hey Rebekah! You weren’t imaging things on the prices. Tne one game, I think, was Titanfall 2 was cheaper. With store credit, GameStop comes out to be the better deal. Ijs!
