Cheers To 400!

bundesstrase-400

As you may have suspected from the title (and giant yellow sign), this is my 400th piece on my website!

To be honest, I’m not quite sure how I feel about it. In some ways, I feel like I haven’t been writing long (and in the grand scheme of life, I haven’t). In other ways, I feel like I’ve been writing heaps, and am not sure how much further along I am in my quest to be a real, live writer.

Either way, here we are. If you’re reading this, all I can say is thank you, truly, for supporting my words with your time.

Back in June of this year, I asked for feedback about what you’d like to see from this website, and I heard some great things, things I’m still working on implementing (e.g.: reviews, streaming).

So, in the spirit of change and growth, I’m pleased to announce that starting in January of 2017, I will be streaming once a week! The games will be anything from new releases to older titles, and I’m hoping to include some of you in those play sessions. More details to come!

I’m also pleased to announce that I’m going to start doing “community” game nights! I’d like to get some feedback from all of you on your interest in this. I’d love to start with games like Quiplash (which I would stream via Twitch and can be played together via your phone). If you are interested, please follow me on my Twitch channel (I have zero followers! It’s brand new!), and/or on my YouTube channel (which is also brand new and has zero followers!) for future hijinks.

Here is where I ask for a favor (and I am loathe to do that): if you could help me get to 100 followers on YouTube, I can offer a bit more customization and I’d really like to be able to do that. Of course, that’s only if you are comfortable doing so. Those of you who know me know I hate asking for even that.

I’ve been encouraged in the past to do some sort of Patreon since I’ve been a source of reliable content for over two years now, but that’s an even more uncomfortable subject. For those who aren’t familiar, Patreon is a crowd funding platform that facilitates artists obtaining funding from their work. I will look into the logistics a bit more and report back with a more solid idea of what, if any, plans I have on the Patreon front.

With that I ask: what would you like to see? Please feel free to brainstorm here. Would you like reader suggested topics that I digitally ponder? Would you like to see more reviews, interviews, and the like? Are you interested in watching me stream games? Are you interested in having community game nights? Please let me know in the comments or, if you’d prefer, you can email me at sinceretoafault@gmail.com.

One thing I’d like to do more of is interact with everyone on Twitter. Most people aren’t aware that I don’t do any sort of social media on my telephone; all of it is done via computer. I’m actually thinking of branching out and using my phone for Twitter. That may sound ridiculous to some of you, but for me, it’s a huge step out of my comfort zone.

And, since I’ve linked every other self-promoting thing I can think of, why not also add here that you can visit my writing page on Facebook, if you are so inclined. I’m always looking to interact on any, and every, platform and would love to hear from you in any form.

If I hadn’t mentioned it already, self-promotion makes me physically uncomfortable. If this post seems pushy, I both apologize, and completely understand. I never thought being a writer would require so much of it. I try to do it as little as possible.

Again, please do provide feedback on what you’ve liked so far, and what you’d like to see going forward. I’d also love to know how you feel about the upcoming addition of streaming as well as the prospect of community game sessions. I’ve always felt games bring people together, and I’d love to be able to play online with the kind people who read my words.

Thank you, truly, for sharing your time with me. There is no greater honor.

Cheers, friends. Here’s to 400 more.

    • Oh man, jeez. That’s kind of you to say (though I don’t necessarily agree with all those thoughts).

What do you think of the new changes coming? What would you like to see going forward? I’m looking to improve and grow and I’d love to know what you think.

      • Streaming gonna be a big deal. You’re such an intelligent gamer and have great insights, I’m looking forward to seeing this on a more interactive level. I think people will enjoy it immensely.

        • I hope so! I did my first impromptu stream the other night and it was a lot of fun. People could participate via their phones and it was a silly, good time.

Thank you for the kind words, though. I deeply appreciate it. Now come play some Quiplash 2 with me via Twitch! :)

  1. 400, wow! Congrats Rebekah, happy for you! I have enjoyed reading your weekly blogs. Keep them coming. Especially those that deal with gaming releases, trophies, screenshots, etc. Also, interested in hearing you stream your thoughts on both upcoming and older releases. I’d like to see some playthroughs streamed too as time allows. Also, like you said a lot of people don’t know that you Tweet. This would be a great way to get your fans to come to your website. Just my thoughts! Here’s to the next 400+ blogs. Again, congrats! I’m happy to have been a part of the first 400. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next 400. :)

    • Thank you, Richard! But they aren’t weekly, they are thrice weekly! Wheee!

I’m really excited to start streaming and including people in the games being played. But you can absolutely look forward to more pieces on new games, trophies, and screenshots. I can’t resist screenshots!

Thank you so much, and thank you for being here. Cheers!

  2. Hoping you still remember us, this is GerardoExber from GameInformer. Few have been the times when I had the chance to read your blogs here, but when I used to back at GIO, your entries were something else.

Like you, I’m following that dream of being a writer as time progresses, but is it not easy. However, great thing comes from small beginnings, that’s how Uncharted motto goes? :D If there is anything I would recommend you, yes I will do my best to keep on reading your blogs here, is that don’t stop blogging.

You were one my biggest inspirations to pursue my video game journalism thing, you know? Congratulations on your 400th! :)

    • Of course I remember you! There’s no question of that! :)

I think about posting again on GI, but I haven’t in some time. I do love the community there, though.

I like your thoughts on starting small; I start from a very small place!

I wish I had words to tell you how humbled I am at your words. You honor me in a way I didn’t know possible. I hope we both make our dreams happen.

      Super writing friend hug.
