Feedback: What Would You Like To See?

I’ve been giving a lot of thought recently to how I can evolve and improve this website (and myself in general). I have begun to branch out a little with the content I provide (e.g.: reviews), but I’d genuinely welcome feedback from you. What would you like to see more of? What would you like to see me do? Would you like more news? More reviews? Would you like me to post more images? More videos? Would you like to see me stream the games I’m playing? Or would you like something else entirely?

I’d love to hear any thoughts you might have on this, as I’m willing to try some new things to see how it all shakes out. As I’m headed into year three of this website, I’m committed to bringing the same consistent content, I’m just thinking about trying to make it more interesting. For all of us.

Of course, if you think the content is fine as is, please let me know that, too. As I said, I’m just looking for feedback here, and any feedback is welcomed. I’m genuinely grateful to each of you that comes here to read, and I’d love to know what you’d like to see more of.

I know this is a bit of an odd piece, but it’s been on my mind, and I’m hoping everyone who drops by for this will at least dash off a comment to help me plan the year ahead. Thank you in advance! I’m looking forward to what the next year will bring.

Have an excellent weekend, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Cheers, friends!

  1. As Colton said I would watch you stream games for sure! If you’re looking for more interaction to go along with it you could post a vote and then stream the winner. I read everything you post and will continue to do so, I really enjoy your unique style and commentary on the industry.

  2. Rebekah, I agree with both Colton & Nathaniel. More streaming would be great. Please continue blogging;I think some interviews would be great given your writing style. Also, more artistic blogs ie. what plays/movies interest you. What changes in the industry would you like to see, etc.

    • I am looking into the logistics of streaming so hopefully more news is coming on that front. We shall see!

I can definitely try for more interviews (I’ve done several), but sometimes, devs just aren’t into granting one to a person with a tiny site. For example, I asked one tiny dev and he was lukewarm at best. I kept pursuing it and a week later his game got picked up by the major outlets and I never heard from him again. It’s a bummer, but I will keep trying for sure.

Interesting. I can do that! Thank you so much, Richard!

  3. In depth content pieces about games (maybe focusing on indies?) or game mechanics that no one really thinks about.

Like the psychology of the exp grind. Or a history of microtransactions along with predicting future ways (buying outfits was unheard of several years ago; now every game is doing it).

  4. Video game footage, especially the tricky bits. You know the ones that make you crazy.
Maybe what goes into game production.
    Just a thought.

    • I’m not sure I’m adept enough to show people how to get past difficult parts in games, but I could certainly try. Either way, both are good suggestions. Thank you!

  5. Wholly agreed with everyone that suggested streaming. Along with that, I second Christian that more in-depth reviews/coverage of indies – that are unlikely to get such coverage elsewhere – would be great. You’ve done a few of these – e.g. The Park – and they and your developer interviews have been my favorites.

That said, I’ve enjoyed everything you’ve published to date. Thank you.

    • I will look further into streaming, as I’m unsure what exactly I’d need to get started with it. Either way, all of these are good suggestions; thank you!

Also, you are quite kind. Thank you.

  6. I would enjoy reading more reviews from you, wether they’re for new releases, slightly older titles, or even classics. Like everyone else, I’m also 100% behind you streaming, especially titles you’re very knowledgable about. I’ve learned a lot about Borderlands during the time we’ve played together, and I think others would benefit from that knowledge!

    • I definitely need to flex my reviewing muscles more, so I will be trying to do that for sure. Either way, I like all these suggestions; thank you.

Ha! I DO love my Borderlands! And you are very kind, thank you. :)

  7. I have been thinking what I’d like to see more of on your site, first of all, I really like your current content. But interviews would be really cool, and live streaming too! Two things I would incorporate myself in my site if I could, so if you can pull that off, it would be grand!

    • Well, thank you. I’ve liked the interviews I’ve done, but I could certainly pursue more of them. I’m looking into streaming, but I’m still uncertain of what exactly it would entail, so more research is needed!

Oh man, it would be neat if you incorporated some of both into your site, too.

      • Well, I wouldn’t even know where to start when it comes to interviews, not streaming. I guess you’d have to have someone who’s willing to be interviewed first, haha!

        • I’ve actually done several interviews and they all went quite well! I’ve also pursued interviews and, for whatever reason, those particular devs weren’t into being interviewed by me. I’m particularly proud of the Fossil Echo interview, the Wander interview, and the Red interview.

  8. Hi, long time reader first time commenter ;)

Personally, I’d love to see you cover more topical stuff in the gaming world. Of course, I’d want it to still be about stuff that interests you but I’d love to know your thoughts on stuff going on whether that be something harmless like the Mighty No. 9 kickstarter being a complete disaster or something a little bit more game changing like Sony and Microsoft potentially changing how often consumers could be getting more powerful consoles. And like other comments have mentioned, reviews would be great too. A personalized Rebekah scoring system would be fun.

    • I feel certain you’ve commented before, perhaps via Twitter? Either way, HI!

Really solid ideas, thank you. I will make sure I add these to my “to tackle” list. I’m definitely getting that I should try doing more reviews, but I hadn’t thought about a dedicated scoring system. I assume you mean something like Conan does for his Clueless Gamer segments? I was just thinking of doing something tried and true like a blank out of 10 scale.

Either way, thank you for weighing in! I very much appreciate it.
