Whoever said “all good things must come to an end” was surely referring to my playthrough of Bloodborne.

After much positive progress, I hit a wall, as it were. I found myself getting increasingly frustrated at the mechanics and systems of the game (which I wrote about last Friday). I realized I wasn’t enjoying myself at all and had to ask myself if I wanted to continue playing the game.

My answer (after much deliberation) was no.

Am I ruling out picking it back up at a later time? Absolutely not. I hope to find some Bloodborne fortitude and keep at it, but I know not when that might be. But my mind is definitely open to the possibility.

With that wall hit, I find myself in a bit of a weird situation here. I am sure I won’t beat the game before the end of the month, as I’m unsure if I will even be playing it again before the end of the year. This is also a bit of a weird juncture, as in just a few weeks, two major releases are upon us, and I will surely be as gaming busy as I’ve been in a good long while.

So with three weeks (and a day) before Rise of the Tomb Raider and Fallout 4, I believe I will (finally!) be going back to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. I only ever put it down until two issues were patched, and that has long since been done. I’m ready to see where Geralt’s adventures take me.

In addition, I’m hoping to play through a few smaller games like Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. I’d also like to dip my toes in Life is Strange since the final episode comes out this week and I’d been waiting for all of them before I started (I like to marathon episodic games). There is also Soma and I’m sure I’m missing a few others.

Of course there are other far larger games on my plate (e.g.: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Batman: Arkham Knight, Pokemon: Alpha Sapphire) but those will have to wait. I don’t think I can Witcher at the same time as another massive open world game. My brain will be overloaded with side quests and I will no longer know who to help and when.

One open world game at a time is more than enough for me.

I’m also reaching that point in the year when I start to panic about all the current year releases that I’ve yet to get to, and I don’t quite know what to say about that. With potentially the biggest open world game yet to come, the last couple months of 2015 look daunting, indeed.

So with that, I will do my best to make as much progress as possible in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt before the fabled date of November 10th. I’m already excited.
