February Game Challenge: Week Two

february game challenge 03 cover

No beating around the bush: I do not have good news to report.

The past week had a few hiccups that I wasn’t expecting. The aftermath of surgery for our pup required multiple vet visits (and a lot of time spent outside), then I ended up so sick that I was in bed all of one day, and most of another. Suffice to say, there wasn’t much gaming going on.

I contemplated adjusting my challenge for the month (especially since I am a week behind, in a short month no less), however I’m still going to gun for it. I think if I plan accordingly, I can still hit three games. My goals have been refined to the following (in this order): Fallout 3, Far Cry 4, and GTA V. According to the HowLongToBeat website, it looks doable. But just barely.

I have also been playing a tiny bit on my Vita and 3DS. I started into Hohokum, which I had been really excited to play, however it has been falling a bit flat. The visuals are stunning, and the music is completely suited to the experience, however I wondered, more than once, if I was even playing it correctly. I finally looked online to see what the “point” of the game was, and I found out I’m supposed to be finding other lines called “friends” to join me. Once I find all 16, the game is “completed.”

I had zero idea that’s what the goal of the game was. If I had not looked it up, I may never have known. Color me confused.

Also, after a month-long hiatus, I went back to my Animal Crossing town to check in. I expected weeds and long since moved townsanimals, however I found a Xanadu (my town) that was just about exactly as I’d left it. I found one weed. One. No one moved away. No one new moved to town. The only differences were the things my animals would say to me, each having to do with my month absence. Apparently they thought I was at a pea soup convention.

Those animals can be weirdos.

So today, I’m hoping to get back on track with this challenge and have real progress to report next week. I’d like to have completed Fallout 3 by then, and I’m really looking forward to getting back into Far Cry 4 after having put it down only an hour or so in.

So friends, I bid you adieu. Off to the console I go.

Enjoy your Monday. Or at least pretend to until it sticks.
